Church Leadership

Stephen began at Free Church in 2023, but prior to that pastored EFCA churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He’s been an adjunct teacher at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and The University of Northwestern, St. Paul. He has a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary in biblical studies and is currently a doctoral candidate at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He’s married to Katherine, and they have four children. Stephen loves to spend time with his family, play in the mountains, and share God’s Word.

Loren has been a part of the Free Church since 2005 when he first moved to Cañon City. He worked for the parachurch ministry of Young Life for 19 years, 14 of those as the area director for our local area. In 2019 he transitioned from Young Life into the role of Pastor of Adult Ministries at the church. Loren graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a degree in Psychology and Church Ministry and received his Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University. He has been married to Amanda since 1999 and has three daughters.

Aaron came to the Free Church in 2011 and oversees our weekly whole-church gatherings. He’s deeply passionate about the bride of Christ proclaiming and savoring the unchanging life-transforming gospel of Jesus and seeing Him on display in our lives. Aaron desires to lead in ways which value and grow whole-person health. He graduated from Trinity International University with a BA in Music, with concentrations in Church Music and Music Theory/Composition. The undisputed fastest eater in the office, he also enjoys dinners with friends, running, hiking, National Parks, and his Iowa Hawkeyes. He's been married to Lydia since 2008, and it’s their JOY to be parents of their sweet daughter since 2023.

Daniel's life has been changed for the better and forever by Jesus Christ. He lives to serve the Lord--often through the roles of pastor, coach, friend, neighbor, and father to his family of three. Aspiring rancher, mechanic, and fishermen, Daniel holds certificates and degrees from Word of Life Bible Institute, Moody Bible Institute, and Moody Theological Seminary. Commissioned by Heritage Baptist Church in Lakeland, FL, Daniel has served as our youth pastor since 2016. In his free time, he can often be found down by the river!

Sarah has attended the Free Church for almost 30 years and joined the staff as Director of Children’s Ministry in 2021. Sarah brings extensive experience working with children through her time working in public education. Additionally, Sarah attended California Baptist College and University of Southern Colorado, earning a Minor in Elementary Education, a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a Masters Degree in Teaching. She’s always loved and felt called to working with children and feels so blessed to now have a profession where she can invest in them spiritually. Sarah and her husband Matt have 3 beautiful children. Sarah loves music, playing piano,, singing, reading, cooking, baking, playing games, hiking, being out in nature, and spending time with family.

Anette began as the interim children’s ministry directory in 2003, then served as Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor for 15 years, and now serves as the Church Administrator. She received her ministry license from the Evangelical Free Church of America in December 2021 and her Church Administrator certification (CCA) in July 2023. She’s been married to her best friend Grant for over 3 decades, and they have 4 adult children. She is “Grams” to 7 amazing grandchildren. She is also a crazy chicken lady, quite proud of her 10 hens.
